How to Pick Perfect Birthday Flowers for Men

Monday, April 28th, 2008

By Natalie Aranda Men love flowers, but for some reason flowers are not the first thing that comes to mind when an individual is looking for a mans birthday gift. However, the idea that flowers are only for women is a complete misconception. In fact, many surveys taken by men show that the vast majority of men would enjoy receiving flowers for their birthday or other special occasions, so gift givers should take note. As such, flowers should be considered as a gift for any man whether he be a father, husband, boyfriend or son. The flowers that are most appropriate for men, regardless of the position the man holds in your life, are flowers that are bright and vibrant in reds, oranges and yellows. Because of this, roses, Gerber daisies and carnations are always great choices. Also, any birth month flower would be an appropriate birthday gift not to mention any particular favorite flower the man might have from orchids to a cactus. Of course, if you are sending birthday flowers to your husband or boyfriend red roses are just as appropriate for men as they are for women and represent the love and passion in the relationship. Flowers specifically for a dad or a son should not be passionate, but loving and show appreciation and thoughtfulness on their special day. Again, bright colored flowers should be sent and plants and bonsai trees are also great choices. Different months of the year have corresponding flowers, much like birthstones. January is the snowdrop and carnation; February the primrose and violet; March the violet and jonquil; April flowers are the daisy and sweet pea; May represents lily of the valley and hawthorn; June is the rose and honeysuckle; July the water lily and larkspur; August represents the gladiolus and poppy; September the Morning Glory and Aster; October the Marigold; November, chrysanthemum; and December birthdays the Poinsettia and Holly. Regardless of whose birthday it is whether man or woman, son or daughter, husband or wife, girlfriend or boyfriend, flowers are always an appropriate and thoughtful gift that will be appreciated immensely. Tips For Successful Job Hunting: How To Get A Job Without A Resume

Saturday, April 26th, 2008

By Thei Zervaki I am in my mid-thirties, and, as you can imagine, I have changed and looked for jobs many times in my life. No matter how successful was in my job hunting research, I realized that there are certain ground rules that need to be respected; otherwise, we will not get what we want from our careers. First of all, forget about your resume. A resume cant get you a job. A resume wont get you a job. Research proved that for 1,400 resumes sent out, there is only ONE job offer! The percentage is very low so instead of worrying too much about the structure, the layout and the type of fonts you will use to create a fantastic resume, do the following: Find what you really want to do in life. By saying that, I dont only imply a job title. Yes, you would like to be a marketing executive, an editor, an IT consultant or a flying attendant; however, its the nature of the job you will have to think of, in the first place. Do you like nine-to-five roles, well structured and in an office? Do you prefer to work in the outdoors? Do you mind getting up at dawn to work and taking afternoons off? Would you mind being on a plane or ship, or do you think that is a fun way to get a pay check? If you feel that you do not have the answer to these questions, think twice. Make lists with things you enjoy in life: your interests, your hobbies, your passions. Then ask your friends or family. What do they think about you? Very often, we do not have a very clear idea of what we like in life, as we are very much into it. Our closest people, though, can help us by identifying areas, hang-ups or paths we ignore or are unable to see. Just give it a go, play around, ask people and move on. By the end of your research, you will know, for example, that you are the person who enjoys working on his own, prefers the unstructured life style, and works well at night. Then, a career in writing or painting might not sound like a bad idea. Identify the industries you are attracted to. This is a funny task. Very often, we think we like everything. We like the movies, books, planes, hotels, schools and restaurants. Yes, we do. This does not imply that we would like to work for these industries. Enjoying a nice meal at your local restaurant, does not necessarily make you a successful cook. Your love for children does not make you a happy and wise teacher, either. Finding the industry of your choice is a long term process, and it will require constant research and clarity on your part. I remember I had a huge crush on the film industry five years ago. I worked for a film festival that didnt last more than two months. I kept applying for jobs in the film industry, unsuccessfully. The problem was that I did not exactly know what type of job I wanted to do. Was it script writing, producing, PR, acting or what? Then I started to take classes on film writing. It was when I finished the third class of script writing that I understood that going to the movies was a fun hobby, but that this was not my industry. After that, I gave up sending resumes and I concentrated on my real needs and desires. I finally found a job for a different industry that I enjoyed. Have a real project. For two weeks, buy all the newspapers and magazines you can find in your local area and/or nationally. Then clip job ads you feel attracted to. Keep them in a folder on a daily basis. Each morning, find out the main elements of the job ad. Was it an intellectual job, a creative role, an analytical position or something that involved adventure and taking risks? Do you prefer management roles or travel, editing or calculating, speaking or thinking? If you do that consistently for two weeks, you will have a very clear idea of the roles/jobs you like. I experimented myself, and I found out that when looking for nine-to-five roles, I liked all management positions because they offered flexibility, travel, high profile contacts and decision making. My client, Helen, who is an editor in a publishing house loves her job although she admits that it can be repetitive sometimes. I could not imagine Helen managing, as she is the type of person who thrives on independent, analytical and writing jobs. On the other hand, my friend John, who is a lecturer at the local college, enjoys research and teaching. Last but not least: the most important element for successful job hunting is to find out who you are, not just what you want to do. Are you a leader, a writer, a speaker, a motivator? An explorer, a risk-taker, an analyst, an artist or a priest? As an identity, you are unique. Just recognize your uniqueness and authenticity, and move on. Finding the job you want is the first step. Then you have to do this job for forty hours a week for a whole life. It is important that you deserve to express your being while doing it? There are many other tips and strategies that will help us all to find what we want to do for a living. These four strategies form, in my opinion, the foundation to success for a first, second or fifth job. Maybe you will find a new job that will fit your personality better, because you found out who you are. Happy Hunting! Thei Zervaki is a career coach and founder of http://www.ditchyouresume.com. How About A Little Bottom Bouncing

Thursday, April 24th, 2008

By Trevor Kugler Whenever you wet a line in a river in an attempt to catch any fish, whether it’s a trout, a smallmouth, a walleye, or whatever kind of fish you’re attempting to catch, the bottom is your friend. This fact is often overlooked by anglers, and it shouldn’t be. My mentor used to say, “If you’re not getting snagged, you’re not fishing in the right place.” I have found this point to be true in almost all river fishing situations. When I say river fishing situations, I’m referring to wading in a river attempting to fool a fish into biting your offering. I’m not referring to sitting in a boat trolling, although that fact was probably self explanatory. When you are wading in a river doing what I described above, the goal is to have your bait bounce off of the bottom as it flows naturally downstream. And too accomplish this; the angler must adjust the amount of weight that is used. Too much weight and the offering will get snagged on the bottom. Too little weight and the offering will simply float over the bottom as it flows downstream, and look anything but natural. In the second case the angler never gets snagged, but catches very few fish as well. This is the reason that my mentor would say, “If you’re not getting snagged, you’re not fishing in the right place.” This is exactly why I say the bottom is your friend. Although in reality, the bottom is not only your friend, but also your worst enemy. Because when you go through those stretches when you’ve gotten snagged and had to break off and retie six times in a row, the bottom seems like anything but your friend. The important thing to remember is that like most things in life, nothing remedies getting snagged like practice. The more ‘bottom bouncing’ you do the better you will get at it. And the better you get at it, you will not only get snagged less, but you will also catch more fish. Once you figure out the little nuances of ‘bottom bouncing’ you wont believe how effective the technique really is. Bouncing the bait off of the bottom in a river or stream fishing situation is as good a technique as I’ve ever seen. If you really sit and think about it, it’s as natural a presentation as there is. I’ve been using this technique for years and it flat out works! Motorcycle Accident Attorneys

Tuesday, April 22nd, 2008

By Richard Romando Should we look for accident attorneys after an accident? Of course we should! Accident attorneys are undoubtedly the best people to turn to after you or any of your near and dear ones have an accident. Sometimes accidents occur through no fault of yours. But still you need to take care of all the expenses, be they medical or any other, getting money from your insurance companies and from the people who are responsible for the accident too. Motorcycle accident attorneys can ease our problems. Dealing with the aftermath of an accident can be quite confusing and chaotic. Often, we lose things and information which can help us later. Accident laws differ from one state to the other. For example, some states require actual contact with another vehicle to make a claim from an uninsured policy. Such legal diversity makes it very difficult to know what to do in case of trouble. The best thing one can do after an accident is contact a suitable attorney. Accident attorneys specialize in such cases, and have specialized knowledge and experience to deal such situations effectively. Most attorneys provide free consultation and work on a contingency basis, which means that they only get a fee after an award has been rewarded. Thus, it costs no money upfront to get such legal advice. They collect and record relevant information that can be useful later. They interview witnesses, deal with the insurance companies, and fill out essential forms, such as the car accident report form for the insurance company and accident report form for department of motor vehicles. Some accident attorneys include Alliance Legal Services, the Motorcycle Lawyer, Law Core, Hancock & Hancock, Frank Pasternak & Associates S.C., Weber & Nierenberg, Choulos, Choulos & Wyle, and many more. Accident attorneys help us to maximize our chances of getting a fair deal from either the insurance companies or the other party involved. They are indeed the best ones to help us deal with an accident effectively. The Flower Garden in August

Sunday, April 20th, 2008

By Sandra Wilson Our flower garden in August can be brimming with activities we can do at this time of year, as we can for most of the year. We have some flower gardening tips to give you and some experiments to try. Feel free to send us your own flower gardening tips for any time of the year. If it is much too hot for you this August to work in your flower garden during the day, make the most of the early morning hours before it gets too warm. Watching the world wake up can be quite exhilirating. Course morning here comes a little later than other places. ;-) This works well in July too. This month is important in the flower gardening year as its most important work can be taking cuttings. If you have a sunny window ledge within your home or you are lucky enough to have a heated greenhouse, consider taking cuttings of geraniums you planted out in the spring. Not only can you take up and overwinter the older plants from your flower garden, but you can have some newer, younger plants next spring that you start from the cuttings you take now. As with taking cuttings from many other plants, fuchsias, scented verbena, etc., simply make the cut which severs the cutting just below a joint and trim off the lower leaves. Today it is best if you can use rooting powder first, but simply place the cutting in some light potting soil in a pot. Tamp down the soil firmly. Don’t fill the pot to the top as you do need some room for watering. However, the first time you water the soil around your cutting, you may find you need to add more soil. Just do so and tamp that down firmly. Water this added soil as well. However, do not overwater your cutting keeping the soil damp at all times. This will end up decaying your cutting and causing all sorts of unsavory growths on your soil. You can still do some sowing in your flower garden at this time of year. If you have some vacant spots within your flower garden, try sowing a little pansy seed of some of the more hardy varieties. You might even try sowing some blue cornflower seed some time before the end of the month. Be sure to thin them out even if you only end up with a half dozen plants left. These August sown plants should end up twice the size of spring-sown ones. Why? Because you are going to pinch out the top of the growth when they are about four inches high. Do this carefully. You should end up with three growths in the place of the one. What happens? You will have a bushier plant. If you wait till spring and do this again to those three growths, you end up with a bushier plant still with many more flowers. Our last of the flower gardening tips is simply to enjoy your flower garden. We should probably include this advice in everyone of our articles. Sometimes we get too busy with all the doing that a garden needs to keep looking nice and forget to relax and enjoy what we achieve. Even if your major achievement was to plant one pot of flowers for your patio or balcony and that is the extent of your flower garden, pat yourself on the back and enjoy it. 2005, Sandra Dinkins-Wilson. Networking is the Key to Star Performance in Everything You Do.

Saturday, April 19th, 2008

By Margaret Stead Many people’s idea of networking relates to the ’size of their Christmas Card List, rather than the quality of their relationship with each person on that list. Similarly those people network, but few reap the rewards of zeroing in on their potential. Here are some ideas to help fill the gap between where you are now and where you can be. 1 Be Generous -Give without expectations and you will be surprised at how it returns to you. It may not come from the same source but a new client, referral, or opportunity will show up because of your efforts. 2 Be Consistent - As in marketing, the more consistent your networking efforts the more productive they become. 3 Gift your contact - Imagine you are buying your contact a gift for their work - what might it be? Understanding what your contact is looking for is the key to developing rapport and mutual understanding. 4 Get Involved - Getting involved puts you in a consistent position of visibility. It allows you to retain ‘Top of Consciousness’ positioning and when people need someone your name will spring to mind. 5 Be a Powerful Resource & Facilitator for Others- Expand your network and facilitate for others. Use your networking resources to bridge people you know with others. What goes around comes around. 6 Learn the Needs of Others then Help Fill Those Needs - Can your business fill their needs? Who do you know who can? Either way you have a win/win situation. 7 Building relationships - is more important than collecting lots of leads. Think quality vs. quantity. Connect deeper vs. on the surface. 8 It’s More Important to Receive Business Cards than Hand Them Out - This puts you in a position to be able to follow up. 9 Consistently Follow Up - It’s not enough to have a network. Follow up and continue developing your relationships and network. Have a good reason to follow up and ask “How can I help you?” 10 Develop Evangelists - Build relationships with Centres of Influence who connect with your ideal client or customer. Offer support and information exchange in return for referrals. 11 Be Connected - The 6 Degrees of Separation Theory states that we are only 6 people away from finding anybody we need to know. Be curious and you will be surprised at what people, resources, and information are at your finger-tips. 12 Develop You - You can grow your career or business as big as you can grow yourself. Start here! Networking is the key to Star Performance in everything you do. You can build a ‘virtuous circle’ of networking contacts in as little as five weeks ‘from scratch’ and maintain that network for a lifetime. Choosing A Financial Advisor

Wednesday, April 16th, 2008

By Elizabeth Morgan The market offers several investment alternatives, and thus individuals are likely to be overwhelmed solely with the thought of them. It is essential to have proper guidance to execute a plan in order to achieve one?s financial goals. People who want to get involved with the market should look for the council and advice of financial advisors. While choosing financial advisors, people need to opt for one who has all the required expertise, qualifications, and tools to help them focus on their long-term goals. A good financial advisor can help decide which investments are best suited for individual needs, based on financial objectives. They will also be able to help with a savings program to build assets. Primarily, individuals need to identify their own needs, that is to say their risk-tolerance, insurance needs, taxes, and their short-term or long-term benefits. When this is done, choosing a financial advisor becomes easy. Individuals need to interview advisors and ask them questions about their experience, track record, services offered, investment approach, and educational credentials. It is also important for people to determine their level of comfort with the advisor in a long-term relationship. Individuals have to ensure that their financial advisors take time out to meet them often and explain everything they need to know about the market. Advisors should be able to offer their clients with a quarterly assessment and advice them on any change in strategies. To get this one-to-one individual benefit, it is advisable to choose smaller firms than larger ones with an exhaustive clientele. It is important to choose advisors who are remunerated on a fee-only basis rather than on brokerage commissions. Advisors who work on commissions may suggest frequent and unnecessary dealings to obtain benefits from them. Advisors ought to understand the investment method and risk tolerance of their clients. In some instances, a formal educational background balances lack of practical experience. However, in any case, it is important that advisors work in a team and have experts to fall back on. Lastly, individuals need to find out if advisors have any complaints or disciplinary actions on file. Most importantly, individuals have to use their own judgment when choosing financial advisors. If an individual wants his or her investments to flourish with time, it is imperative that they choose the right advisor. Increasing Use of Herbal Remedies

Monday, April 14th, 2008

By Eric Hartwell The use of alternative and complimentary medications has mushroomed in recent years. There is growing number of people who are concerned about their health and there is a growing amount of information available to satisfy their need. Many high streets and shopping centers have herbal remedies for sale and shops dedicated to herbal medicine. Online as well, there are many remedies available for sale. How do we make sure that we are buying remedies that are the correct ones for the condition that we have and how do we ensure that we are not buying from dealers and retailers of ill-repute? As many as 1/3 of patients use herbal remedies at some stage or other for their conditions. Many do not tell their doctors or nurses that they are using herbal remedies. Perhaps this is, in part, due to forgetfulness or perhaps it is due to a feeling of shame or a feeling that their health practitioner may disapprove. In the latter case, the reverse is often truemedical practitioners and nurses are often approve of herbal remedies and may even advise some of them. They may even use herbal remedies themselves. Other complimentary therapies may also be used by medical practitioners and certainly advised by them. It is, however, impossible for medical practitioners to keep abreast of all the changes happening in the herbal remedy arena. There are so many different herbal remedies available these days or with different preparations and forms that it is impossible for medical practitioners to keep up. When searching for information and details regarding complimentary or alternative therapy, it is important that patients use discretion when relying on information that they are given. Use herbalists that are well respected and established. When searching online be sure that the information you are getting is up to date, adequate and correct. Do not take advice blindly and, especially, do not seek advice from friends and relations that my have conditions that are different from yours or whos other medical symptoms may be in conflict. Intimacy, What is It Really?

Thursday, April 10th, 2008

By Keishia Lee Louis Simply put, intimacy is more than sex or making love. It’s more than the physical or even emotional connection you feel with your partner. Intimacy involves a soul connection between two people. While instant chemistry can be exciting and thrilling, the chemistry that makes marriages work usually grows over time. This special chemistry between two people involves excellent communication and self sacrifice more than physical attraction. It takes trust, patience, and willingness to talk and to listen. With greater intimacy, married partners can have a more satisfying and fulfilling romantic life. They can learn what pleases each other. For example, your wife may not like flowers all of the time. She may desire a massage, or a well cooked meal. Or your husband may not want the latest fashionable sweater. Its a clean car or your full attention, he desires most. Being able to express what you want is important and genuinely listening to your spouse are key factors in building an intimate romance. Unfortunately, these skills arent fully developed in most marriages, so as the saying goes: Married people can be some of the loneliest people in the world. What generally inhibits partners from building deeper relationships with each other? Cary Barbor writes, “One partner (often the woman) will fight to break down defenses and create more intimacy while the other (often the man) will withdraw and create distance. So the “dance of intimacy” follows: If the woman gets too close, the man pulls back. If he moves too far away, she pursues, and so on.” — Finding Real Love - Intimacy and Alienation, Psychology Today (Jan 2001) She also comments that we often try to recreate and fulfill our childhood desires through our marriage partners. Were attracted to people because they remind us of our parents (OR what we wanted our parents to be). When we realize that they are too much like our mother or our father, we become frustrated, communication breaks down, and we build self-protecting walls. So how can you grow in intimacy with your marriage partner? Here are some keys to unlock the mystery of deeper intimacy. Determine what you really need out of the relationship. Is friendship more important than financial stability? Or must the bills be paid on time even if your spouse doesnt have much time with you? Can you sacrifice long conversations for more affectionate behavior? Or do you need to talk things out no matter how long it takes? The list can go on. Determine what your spouse really needs. At first your husband or wife may be reluctant to share what he or she needs. They may have never really thought about it in an organized fashion. Maybe it would help to have him/her write down his/her desires when he/she is relaxed. Some suggestions: do a really nice deed for your partner like, drawing a warm bath or cooking a nice meal. Then ask them to take the time to think about what they need in the relationship. Make an effort to change your behavior everyday. If your partner needs more space, draw back a little. If they need more of your time, tune out any distractions and pay attention to your spouse. You may start with fifteen or twenty minutes with no TV, phone, computer, radio, etc. and then gradually increase your time to one to two hours of uninterrupted time per day. Finally, take care of yourself. If you are frazzled, you wont be a fun person to be around. Make sure that you have your own me time everyday where you can pray, meditate, and take care of your personal needs. Whether its writing in a journal, reading a good book, giving yourself a manicure, or just vegging out, do it. You and your spouse will be happy you did. 6 Steps to Eliminate Her Boyfriend and Make Her Want You

Thursday, April 10th, 2008

By Scott Patterson One question I get ALL from my readers goes something like this “I like (or have just met) a woman who is great, but has a boyfriend. What can I do to get rid of the boyfriend and make her like me? Well these guys are pretty frustrated because many great women are already taken. Maybe you’ve faced the same situation. If so, read closely because I’m about to reveal my 6 step system for making a woman forget her boyfriend and want to be with you. But before we move on, let me get one thing straight I don’t think messing with an established relationship is a good idea. When you do this, you’re creating a situation where somebody will get hurt. So even if you’ve found a great girl, trying keeping her as a friend and dating only single women. Ultimately this will make you happier. Now if you REALLY like a girl and desperately want to be with her, then try this system: Step 1- Understand your situation Before you try to neutralize the boyfriend, you must first explore your own relationship with this girl. If you find out you’re in the “friends zone”, then her boyfriend won’t be the obstacle. In other words, she WILL NOT want to date you even if she doesn’t have a boyfriend. So even if she ditches the boyfriend, she’ll end up dating other guys. When you’re in “friends zone”, you must first take steps towards making yourself a sexual threat to her. Don’t act like her friend, act like a potential dating partner. Step 2- Ignore the boyfriend My first advice about the boyfriend is to ignore him. Don’t bring him up or talk about him. If she only mentions the boyfriend once, then she’s probably not that interested in him. Don’t let the boyfriend be an obstacle. Instead continue to work on your attraction and flirting techniques. Step 3- Never mock her boyfriend Now if she mentions her boyfriend multiple times, you have to switch tactics. To make her interested, you have to change her mindset and convince her that you represent everything she’s missing in her life. But the one thing you should do is never mock or ridicule her boyfriend. By doing this you’ll only make her defend him- which is the last thing you want. My advice is to be different. If she mentions him, say nice things and talk about how wonderful he sounds. Which brings us to the next step Step 4- Talk about how great he is Once a woman starts discussing her boyfriend, ask questions about him. Then as the conversation evolves, exaggerate his positive qualities to incredible levels. In fact, talk about him like he is a God. A great technique I recently discovered is to say something like this to a woman “You guys sound SO cute together! I could totally see you two together in 10 years, married with 5 kids and a nice little house in the suburbs”. When you use this technique, you’re latching on to her fear of losing her independence and sense of adventure. As a result, she’ll start to wonder if she’s never going to have fun again. Step 5- Tell her you would make a terrible boyfriend Once you’re on the topic of her boyfriend, tell her how you would be a horrendous boyfriend. Compare yourself with the wonderful aspects of her boyfriend and tell her why you’re different. With this tactic you want to describe yourself as an adventurous guy who lives a fun life and could NEVER settle down with one woman. You want to make her think you’re a fun person who is always having great times. Step 6- Talk about your adventures Once you’ve established yourself as a guy who would be a bad boyfriend, you have to make another transition. You should tell her that while you’re not boyfriend material, you would at least be a provider of fun times and excitement. Basically you’re setting yourself up as a guy who would make a lousy boyfriend, but will be interesting to be around. By combining this six step system with fundamental attraction advice, you’ll be perceived as a guy who can provide women with excitement. Since many of them are in relationships out of convenience, she’ll change her mindset and think of you in a sexual manner. And once a woman sees you in this light, she’ll be attracted towards you and your lifestyle. Then you can slip in there and steal her away from her boyfriend. Want to learn 50 different ways to meet, approach and attract women? If so, take a look at Scott Patterson’s Free eBook which provides 50 tips for approaching, attracting, and dating ANY woman.
