The Key to Building Good Relationships

Tuesday, November 27th, 2007

By Kent Pinkerton Good and healthy relationships are an important part of human life. Relationships usually develop when individuals realize that differences make life exciting. Different types of relationships are friendships, romances, work and school related connections and familial ties. Good relationships grow when people consider each other as partners in life and not see them in terms of money, property or anything else that they are obsessed with. Healthy relationships prosper only in a gradual manner. It takes time and energy for partners to realize each other. Relationships grow and change over time. Therefore it is important that people acquire the skills that keep their relationships happy and healthy. Relationships flourish into true and loving bonds when people choose to share rather than change each other. There are no formal programs that teach us about building good relationships. It is something that one picks up by watching others, normally parents or anyone in the immediate family. But, today many youngsters do not want to follow in their parents-footsteps. Quite a few factors are involved in building good relationships. An important thing in a relationship is good friendship. Good relationships are truly friendships. Willingness to talk through things and to share positive and negative feelings with each other, all contribute to healthy relationships. It is important to avoid jealousy, possessiveness and competition, since they reflect individual fears and insecurities. To build a healthy marital relationship, it is good to show interest in your partner’s feelings and dreams. A person must take responsibility for his actions and feelings, and encourage his partner to do the same. The next important thing is “establishing trust”. All relationships survive on trust. It is essential to express trust in your partner constantly. To keep a good relationship with someone at work, you should understand that he is a person who deserves to be treated with admiration and courtesy. It is wiser to avoid making comments about him. One has to consider a colleague as an equal. This is a primary building block for healthy relationships. A good and healthy relationship is worth any price. Yet it cannot be purchased with currency. Sensible people spend time to develop good friendships steadily, and maintain a vigilant watch so that they do not weaken in course of time. Understanding Bipolar Disorder

Monday, November 26th, 2007

By Anne Wolski Bipolar disorder, once known as manic depression, is an illness where the sufferer alternatively experiences both extreme joy and terrible desolation. Medication and therapy are generally used to stabilize the condition. Sufferers are often detached, introverted, and emotionally sensitive even though during the manic phase their behaviour takes on a very extroverted form. In some cases the condition may have a fanatical or religious element. This is a severe mental disturbance and an affective psychosis. It is sometimes referred as bipolar disorder psychosis. Sometimes a sufferer tries to hide emotions such as anxiety or shyness and, in so doing, he or she becomes carried away with their feelings. Bipolar disorder does not appear to be caused by stress itself but can be affected by outside tensions or abnormal attitudes in their upbringing. It is thought that these things may stimulate the area of the brain which produces chemicals, thus creating the mood swings experienced in bipolar disorder. The cause of bipolar disorder remains inconclusive but it is thought that a deficiency in the hormonal means that regulate the balance of emotions may be a contributing factor. The brain produces two chemicals that regulate mood and these are serotonin and norepinephrine. Serotonin, if insufficient, may cause general mood instabilities. Norepinephrine, if in low supply, can cause depression. If it is excessive, it can produce mania. There are two forms of mania associated with bipolar disorder. These are hypomania and hypermania. Hypomania is the form of mania when it is not excessive and hypermania refers to the mania when it is very extreme when the patient is in a highly frantic and euphoric state. Usually, when a patient is in a manic state, they talk excessively and at high speed. They flit from one subject to another and become very easily distracted. In extreme cases, the patient may experience delusions and hallucinations or act violently. They may also become confused and disoriented. As well as manic periods, the patient may go into a severe depressive state. This is characterized by fatigue, despondency, and extreme sadness. When the depression is at its most severe, the patient may become silent and motionless. One of the real risks during this stage is that of suicide. Manic and depressive moods often arise without warning and last for some time- even weeks or months if no treatment is given. Living with someone in either the manic or depressive stage is not easy although they are usually not dangerous to others. However, they may become a danger to themselves if not treated. Conventional drug therapy for bipolar disorder is generally used to help with both the depression and the manic episodes. Tricyclic antidepressants control the depressive states and sedatives and tranquilizers control the manic occurrences. Lithium carbonate is commonly used as it stabilizes both of the mood swings. Bipolar disorder is still very much a mystery but people who suffer from the disease have learned to recognize the early signs of mood swings. This helps them to cope by taking the necessary medication or other actions. This helps them to lead relatively normal lives. Cryptozoology And The Brey Road Beast

Saturday, November 24th, 2007

By Robert Benjamin The Brey Road Beast has been sighted by numerous witnesses including police officers, in Wisconsin - USA, from 1936 to present. The creature has been observed walking upright like a human, running on all four legs like a dog, or sitting on it’s hunches eating roadkill. It averages 6 feet tall, is built like a muscular man with shaggy hair covering it’s body. It has a face that has been called wolf-like, or like a German shephard, with pointed ears. It is reported to have three long claws on it’s hands. People report that the creature stares at them with a gaze that is terrifying. When people have seen the creature illuminated by their vehicle headlights, it’s eyes glow yellow, like some animals. One woman who saw it, reported it is as close as one could get to seeing a real ‘ werewolf ‘. Odors described during or right after encounters with this creature have been reported as being like decaying meat or rotted flesh. The only reported sounds or speech occurred in what was the first recorded sighting of the creature, in 1936. A night watchman saw the beast digging with it’s claws in an Indian burial mound. The watchman prayed and as he did the creature looked at him and growled “gadarah” “gadarah” then sneered as it walked away on it’s two hind legs. It should be noted that the creature growled ‘gadarah’, Gadara was one of the “Ten Cities,” that were originally inhabited primarily by Greek people who settled in the region after the time of Alexander the Great’s conquest. After the Romans occupied the region from about 65 B.C., Gadara was made the capital of the Roman province of Peraea. Gadara was located east of The Jordan River on a mountain about 6 miles south-east of The Sea Of Galilee. The people of Gadara were known as Gadarenes, although the general area was also known as the “country of the Gerasenes” Gadara is the site mentioned in the Bible where one of the most well known healings of Jesus Christ’s ministry took place. After Jesus calmed the wind during the boat trip with the disciples, they arrived at the country of the Gerasenes, which is opposite Galilee. Here Jesus met a man who was possessed by evil spirits. Here is the story as told in the King James version of the Bible: ‘ And they came over unto the other side of the sea, into the country of the Gadarenes. And when he was come out of the ship, immediately there met him out of the tombs a man with an unclean spirit, who had his dwelling among the tombs; and no man could bind him, no, not with chains, because he had been often bound with fetters and chains, and the chains had been plucked asunder by him, and the fetters broken in pieces: neither could any man tame him. And always, night and day, he was in the mountains, and in the tombs, crying, and cutting himself with stones. But when he saw Jesus afar off, he ran and worshipped him, And cried with a loud voice, and said, What have I to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of the most high God? I adjure thee by God, that thou torment me not. For he said unto him, Come out of the man, thou unclean spirit. And he asked him, What is thy name? And he answered, saying, My name is Legion: for we are many. And he besought him much that he would not send them away out of the country. Now there was there nigh unto the mountains a great herd of swine feeding. And all the devils besought him, saying, Send us into the swine, that we may enter into them. And forthwith Jesus gave them leave. And the unclean spirits went out, and entered into the swine: and the herd ran violently down a steep place into the sea, (they were about two thousand;) and were choked in the sea. So maybe way back in 1936 the Bray Road Beast was telling us what or who it is, a demon or devil who has been around since Jesus walked the earth. We can see from the story in the Bible that the creatures have great strength, for the man who was possessed by them could easily break chains. Also note that the man lived among the dead, in the tombs. When the Bray Road Beast was sighted in 1936 it was digging in the location of the dead, an Indian tomb, or burial mound. The Gospel of Judas - “Jesus Was Not Crucified”

Saturday, November 24th, 2007

By Karen Fish The Christian Gnostic (Knowledge) Gospel of Judas was made public this week and Judas was the hero not the betrayer. This was just the tip of the iceberg - The Christian Gnostic Gospels also tell us that Jesus was not crucified. The Christian Gnostic Gospels pre date the 4 Gospels kept in the New Testament. The Gospel of Judas was one of the Christian Gnostic (Knowledge) Gospels burned by the Church Fathers at the Council of Nicaea in 325 AD and discovered in Egypt in the town of Naj Hammadi by a peasant in 1945. The numerous Gnostic Knowledge Gospels of Christ were burned by the Church Fathers because they made the 4 Gospels which they put in the New Testament in 325 AD look ridiculous. In the Gospel of Judas, Judas was the hero and most trusted disciple doing the will of Christ. Pope Benedict looked like the boy putting his thumb in the hole in the levee this week when he called Judas a Double Crosser, sticking to the party line despite the new evidence to the contrary. Well, this revelation about Judas is nothing compared to the others in the Christian Knowledge Gospels. In the Koran, (Sura Chapter 4:156) the angel Gabriel who brought Mary the good news tells the Prophet Muhammad that in fact Jesus was not even crucified, a likeness, an impostor was, because this was the story in the Christian Knowledge Gospels which were burned by the Church Fathers forever (they hoped) 1,700 years ago. The Gnostic Gospel of Judas never mentions the crucifixion or the resurrection. Seth was the third child of Adam and Eve. There was a group of Gnostic (Knowledge) Christians named after Seth, Sethians. In the Christian Gospel called “The Second Treatise of The Great Seth”, 56.6-19 in NHL 332, Jesus Christ told Simon, “It was another…who drank the gall and the vinegar; it was not I… it was another Simon, who bore the cross on his shoulder. It was another upon whom they placed the crown of thorns. But I was rejoicing in the height (the hills) over their error. And I was laughing at their ignorance. (for thinking it was I who they were crucifying)”. The Christian Gnostic Knowledge Gospels contradict the 4 Canonized Gospels in the New Testament endlessly. The 4 New Testament Gospels contradict themselves endlessly. This is just the tip of the iceberg. One need only look right in the Holy Bible to see what is really going on. God the Father said through Prophet Isaiah that the Bible writers, the Priests and Prophets who wrote the Bibles, the scribes were creating for the people a shelter, a refuge, of lies and falsehoods, (Isaiah 28:14-15) which would cause the people to fall backward and be broken and ensnared and taken. (Isaiah 28:9-13). God the Father called the Holy Bible The Word of Satan! God said to the scribes, “You prophesy by Baal, Beelzebub, Satan!” (Jeremiah 2:8). God the Father said, “They (the scribes) say, ‘Says the Lord’, when the Lord has not sent them, and yet they wait for the fulfillment of their word!” (Ezekiel 13:6). Jesus launched into an absolute diatribe in Matthew 23 calling the Bible writers, the scribes, lying venomous snakes who spewed their own divisive racist deadly hateful lies right into your Holy Bible and signed them, said God, and said Jesus. Jesus lambasted the scribes and those who followed the same Old Testament followed by Judaism, Christianity and Islam today. In fact, Hell itself is an invention of the modern Bible Writers. In the New Revised Standard Version of the Bible every time Hell is mentioned there is an asterisk beside it. The Bible was written in Greek, and every time that Jesus says Gehenna or Sheol your modern Bible Writers substitute their own word, Hell. Gehenna was a place outside of Jerusalem where the Jewish and non Jewish people sacrificed their children on fire altars to the God Baal, Satan. Sheol was a place underground where both the good and the bad spirits dwelled together after death. Jesus spoke of Sheol all the time. According to Jesus right in the Bible, everyone goes to Hell, Sheol, after death, both the good and the evil spirits. How long can Christianity survive on a foundation of what God the Father endlessly calls lies right in the Holy Bible? Hasnt it caused enough suffering, or will you all allow it to now lead you all into extinction in Nuclear World War 3? The Temple of Love The World Peace Religion unites Christianity Islam Judaism and everyone else and the countries they all live in by tying them all together with their common threads and resolving all of their differences once and for all, including setting the record straight about the passion of the Christ. Come on in and get the whole story with Biblical citations and new evidence. Come help save the world with truth, love, God of Mount Sinai, and by following the real Word of God, 10ve, the 10 commandments, once you see what they really mean, and how powerful they truly are. Successful Conflict Negotiation Strategy in Interpersonal Relationships

Thursday, November 22nd, 2007

By Krag Klages Day in and day out, co-workers, friends, and family share with others their relationship issues, pointing to this or that problem and why this or that person did such and such. This is very common. What is not common, however, is a quick, painless negotiation of these conflicts. I submit that there is a very simple formula to resolve almost any conflict between two people and that anyone, regardless of education or background can use it. It is based on something everyone does from time to time but escapes most people when faced with a conflict with another, especially someone close to them with whom they have an emotional bond. The next time a family member does something you don’t like, or a friend says something you don’t agree with, think about what it is written here. Remember, this formula applies across the board: co-workers, friends, family, lovers, spouses, even EX-spouses. From here on out, I will use Chris to refer to the person with whom you are having a conflict. 1.) First, get your facts straight and establish what it is exactly that is the conflict. If you and Chris fought, is what you fought about really what is bothering you (or Chris)? If you do not know the answer to this question, stop right there. Before you think anymore on resolving this conflict, you need to approach Chris and sit-down with him/her. When you do, do nothing but ask questions. I could go on and on about the questions that could be asked, but the gist of it is to get Chris to open up. Ask probing questions about how Chris feels and what it is exactly that is bothering him/her. If you are getting wishy-washy answers, do not get frustrated. Ask more questions, just in a different way. There are two very important things to remember: stay calm and ask questions. Ask questions. Ask questions. I cannot stress this enough. This first part of conflict negotiation is very important. Without the concrete facts and knowledge of the true nature of the conflict, you and Chris will be managing an issue that leads to nowhere. Talking about a surface level problem that came about because of a deeper misunderstanding is probably the number one cause of conflict in itself, so don’t fall into that trap. Once you know what the conflict actually is, whether you are already talking to Chris or not, the next step is easy. 2.) Ask a(nother) question. It is really that simple. Don’t believe me? Try it. When I have an argument with a significant other, for example, and we get to the point of “dead air,” when neither person has anything constructive to say, I don’t “let it go.” I think of a question that will let her reiterate her side. When my boss tells me something about my performance that I do not agree with, I don’t storm off or berate him/her with the reasons he/she is wrong. I ask how he/she came to that conclusion. I let him/her talk and if I still don’t agree, I ask another question. It is amazing how much information we are missing and don’t know it. There are four types of knowledge: the knowledge you have and you know you have, the knowledge you have and don’t realize you have until it comes time to use it, the knowledge you don’t have and know you don’t have, and finally, the knowledge you don’t have and don’t realize you don’t have. Maybe not surprisingly, this last block contains the largest percentage and this unknown not-knowing is exactly what spurs conflict. Like I said, if you are skeptical, try it. There have been books upon books written about interpersonal conflict (I know, I’ve read a lot of them), but in today’s society, we do not have time to weigh the “costs and rewards,” to figure out our own and another’s “conflict management style,” and to study the topic at length only to get bogged down in more information than we can ever use. This is a practical, easy way to try and make most conflicts painless for everyone involved. In fact, I find that my relationships are now strengthened because of it. Remember, questions are the only path to knowing what you don’t know you don’t know. How to Grow Chocolate Cosmos

Tuesday, November 20th, 2007

By Hans Dekker Chocolate cosmos (Cosmos atrosanguinea) is both nose and eye candy for your garden. When its in full bloom, mature blossoms on long, slender stems look like candy kisses on a stick and fill the late afternoon with the sweet scent of vanilla tinged chocolate. New blossoms hug the foliage of the plant, nearly concealing it with their numbers! Add to that the sweet chocolate fragrance and you end up with something very special. Although chocolate cosmos is endangered in the wild, transplants are easily found at most nurseries and garden centers in the spring. However, gardeners who are inexperienced in how to grow chocolate cosmos may overlook what seem to be small, messy tangles of miniature dahlia leaves, unaware that once established, prolific blossoms nearly conceal the foliage. Once in bloom, chocolate cosmos blossoms continuously throughout the summer into the first frosts of autumn. If youre planning a gothic garden, chocolate cosmos is the plant for you. Sometimes referred to as black cosmos, dark maroon blossoms are so deep in color that they appear brown/black in late afternoon and evening. A native of Mexico, the chocolate cosmos is a half-hardy perennial and a sun loving plant that is moderately drought tolerant. Youll most easily grow chocolate cosmos from transplants purchased at your local garden center or nursery. Large clumps of established plants can also be divided to provide as many as three or four transplants. Plant chocolate cosmos in organically rich, well-drained soil in a location that gets full sun. Keep the transplants moist until they established roots and you see the beginnings of some new growth. In the fall, when foliage dies back, cut plants back to about two inches from the root and over-winter them in a frost-free area. Chocolate cosmos is hardy in zones 7-10. In these zones, you may opt to cover the plants with a cloche to protect them from danger of frost. Soul Mates - Finding True Love and Commitment

Sunday, November 18th, 2007

By Sherry Sims Finding your true Soul Mate is something that many people hope to do. We all long for that one special person in our lives to make everything wonderful. We want to live the fairy-tale life and find our very own Prince or Princess Charming. We know that somehow that would make our lives complete. Finding that one true love, someone that we want to be with for a lifetime, can be a difficult task. We seem to find more frogs than princes while on that eternal quest for true love. Perhaps there are a few things that we have either overlooked, over-glamorized, or misunderstood. Think for a minute. What qualities do you think that the love of your life, that perfect Soul Mate, would possess? Would they love you unconditionally, put you on a pedestal, take away all of your tears, make you happy, make you feel secure, and bring you fulfillment? Ah yes, that would be sweet, and very nice, indeed. But let me ask you, what qualities would that Soul Mate you seek find in you at this very moment? Have you done an honest critique lately of your strong points and your weak points? Perhaps you should, because there is a Universal Law that says “Like Attracts Like”. Oh my, you mean that I have to be operating at my highest and best level in order to draw to me the perfect lover and companion? You mean I have to think about what qualities I have to offer another person as well? Oh yes, that is the key. Now, I know that many of you have some very beautiful qualities, and are kind and loving and caring and giving, and still that all important person is missing from your life. And I know that life doesn’t always seem to be fair. So you ask, What can I do to change my situation? Here is a list of things you can do:Make a list of qualities that you desire in a mate.Rate yourself on a scale of 1 to 10 about those qualities. Be honest. Begin everyday to cultivate and expand those qualities in your own life. Remember, “Like Attracts Like.” Maybe that will require changes in attitude, expectations, or limited thinking.Forgive yourself and anyone else who has ever hurt you or let you down. Make a list of people or situations that keep you from loving to your fullest. Say a prayer and ask to be assisted in letting the hurt go. Forgiveness plays a huge role in allowing love into your life. Surround yourself with beautiful things. That doesn’t mean that you have to spend a lot of money to do this. Pick some pretty flowers and put them in a lovely vase. Use your favorite colors in your surroundings. Take a chance and paint a wall in your favorite color, or add some lovely pillows in a silky or a velvety fabric. Make your environment one that you love to be in, one that uplifts you, one that heals your heart.Create. If you love to paint, then paint! If you enjoy creating things with clay or designing things or sewing, or gardening, then by all means do it. If you are a musician and love to play music, then allow yourself the time to do that. Even if you just love to listen to or dance to certain types of music, then you must find space within your schedule to do the things that you love. If you have a hobby that you are passionate about like golfing, surfing, hiking, etc. you must, must, must allow yourself time to pursue it.Give yourself beautiful experiences. Find some time each day to spend in Nature. Sit under a tree and breathe in some fresh air. Go to your favorite park, or to a hilltop overlooking the ocean or a lake, looking for the beauty in nature. Watch an uplifting movie, listen to positive music, read a self help book, listen to motivational tapes, say prayers, meditate, do something nice for someone else. You see, these kinds of activities heal the heart. If you have a wounded heart it is difficult to draw that perfect Soul Mate into your life. Universal Law states that “Like Attracts Like”. Perhaps you’ve noticed that you’ve only drawn other wounded people into your life. Since they were looking to get their needs met through you, and you were looking to get your needs met through them, then nobody got what they needed because each partner had some emptiness inside. Who wants to be with someone who is needy? The answer is to begin to find ways to fill up that emptiness in your own life. By healing your heart and filling your life with beauty, joy, nature, music, and all of the things that you love, you become whole again. And you no longer need to have a partner in your life just to “complete you”. Relationships that begin like that usually lead to eventual resentment. As you become whole again, people will begin to be drawn into your life in greater numbers. You are no longer needy. You are now overflowing with loving energy, and you become very magnetic. Magnetic people draw other people to them naturally. While you are out in the world filling yourself up with the things that you love, you will begin to meet new people that are also living their lives to the fullest, and who aren’t looking for someone else to give them what they need. While you are pursuing your favorite hobbies and activities and loving life and living it to its fullest your chances increase of finding your Soul Mate. So it really comes down to you. You really do have the power to create real love in your life, and in so doing shift your personal energy field from a state of being needy to a state of being magnetic. It’s only by loving yourself, and by living your life to the fullest that you will find true happiness, and perhaps true love. Missions to Unreached People

Sunday, November 18th, 2007

By Christian N Missions to unreached people have been popping up in our culture long ago. Many who have a desire to do missions to unreached people want to become educated on these particular groups but might not know where to begin. Others who are interested in missions to unreached people might want to discover some type of training that will help equip them for this line of ministry. The question is, where would one who is interested in missions to unreached people begin their search? Many times those who are interested in missions to unreached people seek out some type of training. This can come in the form of schooling and discovering what types of classes would aid in this process. The desire in these peoples’ hearts for missions to unreached people might have begun as a small child. Maybe their parents were missionaries to the remote parts of Africa. Maybe they were use to being in a country that differs greatly from ours and wanted to continue in their parents’ footsteps. Maybe their parents’ job was to try and reach these people groups by learning their language, about their culture, and about what they believed. Maybe their parents had a hearts for missions to unreached people and passed the desire along to their children. So here you are that child who is now grown. You are still holding on to that desire that your parents passed on. You find yourself back in the United States and want to become equipped to do the type of ministry your parents do.
